4e Rant
From Fozzee.net
I saw a copy of the 4th Edition D&D Quickstart guide today, and I've gotta be honest, I'm less than impressed. They're definitely headed towards D&D for Dummies. It reminds me quite a bit of Heroquest. I'm just not sure we'll be switching over any time soon. The way things are arranged is just too... toy-like. I, for one, like all the maths and whatnot involved in 3e D&D.
Major (in my mind) Changes
- Instead of "Flank, Denied DEX, etc" they now have "Combat Advantage" that describes "the defender is flanked, stunned, or caught offguard"
- HP totally heal every 6-hour "full rest"
- Action points are restored every 5-minute "quick rest" (and you get only 1, initially)
Skill Changes
- Thievery => Disable Device, Open Lock, Slight of Hand
- Stealth => Hide, Move Silent
- Perception => Spot, Search
