Clear front-side markers
From Fozzee.net
With my old Cavalier, I went for something of a "black out" look with really dark glass, tinted markers, black on black trim, etc. This approach made sense with a black car.
With the Jetta being white, and based on some pictures of white Jettas I've seen, I'm trying for the bleached look. I'm not a big fan of the bleached tail lights (Mostly because I really like the stock lamp layout), but the amber side markers are just ugly. I decided to order a pair of clear ones from Dubstop, because they came with the amber wedge bulbs needed to make sure my sidemarkers still GLOW amber, even if the lenses aren't. I paid about $20, shipped. At some point, I plan to order amber LEDs from LEDLight.com to keep the bulbs from being visible under the clear lens.
Installation is pretty straight forward. Depress the front of the side marker until the back end of the marker comes free and just wiggle it out. Remove the bulb from the back, swap bulbs and markers, and reassembly is the reverse. I found that a small screwdriver made getting the lamps back in quite a bit easier. (Carefully insert the driver between the bumper cover and the depressed front of the marker and use it to help seat the back end.)
Unfortunately, these markers aren't on the circuit that the CCM flashes with the alarm system or anything, so they're just running lights when City Lights are on.
