Overview
I'd been drooling over this phone since the specs were first released. I'm a big fan of Windows Mobile, mostly for it's extendability, and because I don't want to carry a phone and a PDA. These days, I use my "device" mostly as an internet terminal, with voice calls being secondary. Having email delivered directly to your pocket is pretty sweet (no, I don't carry it in my pocket, I found this clip instead, which, if it ever gets back in stock, I'll order. For now, I use the included Velcro pouch.).
Major Features
Here's a list of features on the Touch Pro that I find useful:
- Real, integrated GPS (bring your own GPS software (like Google Maps and you don't have to pay Sprint)
- Removable storage via concealed MicroSDHC slot (up to 16 or 32gb, under the back cover)
- Spring-loaded, slide-out, 5-row keyboard (includes real number keys, unlike previous models)
Hacks and Fixes
Firmware Update
HTC Recently released a firmware update to version 2.01.651.6. This fixed a variety of things, including the aspect-shift speed, frequent crashes and some of the bump-answering issues (they switched to a very sexy slide-to-answer system, like everyone else)
Highly recommended, just make sure to back up your PIM file (in the device root) first, as the upgrade blows away everything in main memory (but your storage card, if installed, is safe)
Download it Here (for Sprint, others available at HTC.com)
