Sawzall Picture

This is the Milwaukee Sawzall that I bought of Craigslist for $20. I'm a bit too ashamed of my electrical-taped cord to show it in this photo. Luckily for me, the boys at Milwaukee thought to make the cord detachable. Perhaps I'll buy a cord someday (they're about $12 online)...

As I noted in the bulletin, there's nothing really wrong with this unit, aside from the beat up cord and a bent blade shoe (plus the filth and wear). I really feel like I got a great deal. The guy was friendly enough too, once he put his somewhat ferocious looking dog away. The only downside to this transaction is that I had to drive clear across town (to "North O", no less) to get it. All-in-all, well worth it, though.

Things I've learned about this unit:

  • The blade holder cannot be upgraded to a tool-less, at least, not directly. The reciprocating arm is different, as is the entire front of the unit (this style is rear-supported, the tool-less style is front).
  • There is a speed selector switch (not visible on the left side, as pictured) at the bottom of the D-Handle that has gives 2 speeds electrically. Not sure what the ranges are, though.

Milwaukee has a full set of drawings for all their saws online here.
