Post:The Discontinued Duracell Debacle
From Fozzee.net
I've been absolutely terrible lately about updating, mostly because I've not really done anything worth updating about. I've been pretty busy with work and just stuff around the house. I've also done a fair deal of gaming and sitting on my butt, doing nothing.
Aaanyhow, I went out last night looking for a second set of batteries for my digital camera and almost came up empty. See, a few years ago, before we went to Europe, I'd bought a set of these Duracell NiMH AAs and they just rock. Without the screen or flash, I can put away an entire card full and then some (at highest quality, like 700+ images). They have a capacity of 2650mah and set me back about $10 for a set of 4. After this amazing performance, I really just wanted another set. Turns out, Duracell (at least, in big-box stores) has replaced them with these precharged ones
, which don't feature their capacity on the front anymore. (further research indicates that it's in the 2000-2200mah range). The older 2650s have 20% more capacity. You'd think in two years, progress would lead to more capacity being common, not less... Anyhow, a few stops later, and I'd found some older 2650s on clearance (4 for about $6) at Target. Maybe I should stock up?
In other events, Fall has arrived. It's been in the 50s at night, and that's just fine with me. You can always put more clothes on if you're cold, but there are practical, legal and physical limits to how many clothes one can remove if they're overheated. The Colony wraps up tonight, and Big Bang Theory started last night. Both excellent shows.
